How to Resolve Canon MP287 Error P07 via Save Mode

The Canon MP287 printer is a multifunction device for use in both the home and office. Besides printing documents, this device can also be used for scanning and photocopying.

This Canon product can print documents on various paper types, including HVS, stickers, and photos. However, like any electronic device, this printer is not immune to technical issues. One such issue is the P07 error, which can disrupt its functionality.

How to Resolve Canon MP287 Error P07 via Reset

Error P07 generally occurs when the printer's EEPROM IC volume counter is full and can no longer store data. Users can resolve this issue themselves before taking the printer to a service center. One way to do this is by resetting the printer.

Here's a complete guide to fixing the P07 error on the Canon MP287 printer
  • Make sure the printer is turned off but still connected to a power source. This step is crucial to ensure the reset process runs smoothly.
  • Press and hold the Reset/Stop button on the printer .
  • While holding those buttons, press the Power button and hold both buttons simultaneously.
  • Release the Reset/Stop button while keeping the Power button pressed.
  • Press the Reset/Stop button six times. Each time the button is pressed, the indicator light will flash. This indicates that the printer is responding to the command.

If successful, the printer will move the roller, and the printer display light will turn blank.

If the USB cable is connected to the computer, a notification will usually appear stating that a new device has been detected. Ignore this message, as it indicates that the printer has entered Safe Mode.

If the process is successful, the printer's screen or LCD panel will turn off or go into blank mode . The computer will re-detect the printer.

Once the printer has entered Safe Mode, the next step is to reset the EEPROM using the Canon Service Tool V3.400 application. Make sure you've downloaded this application beforehand. Here are the steps to follow:
  • Prepare several sheets of paper for printing during the reset process. Insert the paper into the printer's rear tray.
  • Open the Service Tool V3.400 application.
  • In the Clear Ink Counter section, select Main and then click the Set button.
  • Next, in the Ink Absorber Counter section, select Main and then click the Set button.
  • Click the EEPROM button. The printer will then process the command and print a single document with the text D = 000.0. This means the reset process is complete.
  • Click the EEPROM button to check the printer log or records
  • Click the SET button to reset the color counter ( ink counter ).
  • The final step is to turn off the printer and then turn it back on via the Power button.
  • Try printing a document to make sure the printer is back to normal and the P07 error has been resolved.
By following the reset steps above, users can resolve the P07 error on the Canon MP287 without needing to take the printer to a service center.

To prevent problems like error P07 from recurring, perform regular maintenance, such as cleaning the inside of the printer of dust and dried ink, use the printer regularly so that the ink does not settle, and avoid using paper that is not suitable for printing.
