Brother MFC-J5855DW Review
The Brother MFC-J5855DW all-in-one (AIO) printer is, wait for it, the little sibling to the MFC-J6945DW, our Editors' Choice pick among tabloid-size inkjet AIOs for tiny workplaces or workgroups. The MFC-J5855DW can also print at approximately tabloid dimensions, and it's lighter, more economical, and a touch smaller than its huge sibling.
Those advantages include some trade-offs, though: reduced paper capacity and an ADF that's restricted to single-sided scanning and a maximum of legal-size paper. It's a practical selection for those who don't need to check, copy, or fax at tabloid size; however, the differences leave the MFC-J6945DW strongly in position as our top choice.

Arrangement: Get Ready to Wait
The MFC-J5855DW measures 12 by 25.1 by 17.2 inches (HWD) and weighs 39 extra pounds, which makes it small enough to find space for without much trouble, yet heavy enough that you may require 2 people to set it in place. Physical configuration takes a little longer than with many printers.
Along with removing the packaging, loading paper, and connecting the wires, you also have to insert the ink cartridges (Brother uses cartridges rather than containers for its INKvestment container printers), and then wait a few minutes for the printer to pump the ink into its internal storage tanks.
Setting up the software application, which includes print and fax drivers plus a scan driver, is likewise simple, but taxing. Several actions need to be performed manually, starting with finding the appropriate file to download and install from Brother's website. You then must wait for each action to end before you can go to the next, select alternatives, and wait for that action to complete.
In my tests, the arrangement quit at one point, displaying a message that it was required to reboot and run a Network Repair tool. But after adhering to the instructions, the installation proceeded from the step where it crashed, so I really did not need to go through all the steps I just completed
Brother also offers an application for mobile printing and scanning, which worked as guaranteed during my tests using a Wi-Fi Direct connection. The menu is on the 3.5-inch touchscreen control board, adding the capacity to print to a USB drive, in addition to fax, copy, and scan to a PC. You can also check and print from cloud services, including Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive.
