Canon PIXMA iP4200 Review
Alas, pictures make a high-quality score a touch lower and take a bit much longer to publish than what they finished with the iP4000, but the overall balance of features makes for an outstanding package.
Canon phone telephone calls the iP4200 a photo printer, and it is plainly designed as one, with 5 inks rather than the usual 4. Along with cyan, yellow, and magenta cartridges, it holds cartridges for both a pigment-based black and a dye-based black; their purpose is to improve photo output.
As with most of Canon’s Pixma photo printers, the iP4200 offers a strong mix of speed and quality for both message and video. It is also an excellent choice as a solitary, versatile printer.
Among the more outstanding features on this 6.3 by 16.5 by 11.8-inch (HWD), the 14.8-pound printer is its paper-handling. Unlike most inkjets, the iP4200 offers 2 paper inputs: a standard paper feed tray sticking up from the back and a 2nd paper tray that moves right into the front bottom.
Load standard paper in one tray and photo paper in the various others, and you can switch backward and forward in between standard publishing and pictures without needing to switch out a paper every time.
You can load either type of paper in each tray, but you will probably want to load the one you usually use in the tray sticking up from the back since the one ahead gives better protection from dirt. Another nice touch is automated duplexing, enabling you to publish on both sides of a web page.

The configuration is standard fare for a Canon inkjet. Connect in the power cable, snap in the publish
head and the 5 ink cartridges, connect in the USB cable television, and run the automated configuration program. You will also find a PictBridge connector on the front for publishing straight from a PictBridge video cam.
The message output quality is best explained as great enough for most purposes but not as outstanding as the speed. A great score’s luxury equates to most font styles being easily understandable at 5 factors or smaller sizes, with 2 highly stylized font styles requiring 12 factors.
Unless you have an uncommon need for publishing a message at small dimensions, the printer should have the ability to handle any message you are most likely to publish.
At the luxury of great, video quality will offer well for schoolwork or interior business use and is partially great enough for an important customer or client you want to thrill. We saw some banding, but just in the default setting. A possibly more problematic issue was a propensity for a full-page video to earn our standard test paper crinkle.
