Epson WorkForce ST-C4100 Review
An increase by other names would undoubtedly be the Epson WorkForce ST-C4100 Supertank Color MFP, an inkjet all-in-one (AIO) printer that, besides being found in the “For Work” instead compared to “For Home” area of Epson’s website, is similar to the EcoTank ET-4850, the top-of-the-line letter- and legal-size AIO in Epson’s bulk-ink customer schedule.
Both have some slight distinctions in aesthetic problems, in marketing and extended warranty options, and in how much ink is available in the package. WorkForce’s market price is 99 cents less than EcoTank’s. With so little to divide them, the ST-C4100 reaches share the Editors’ Choice honor we gave the ET-4850 for a durable small-office/office AIO.
Literally and functionally similar to the EcoTank ET-4850, the WorkForce ST-C4100 prints, checks to a PC, works as a standalone photo copier and fax machine and scans online solutions.
It also offers precise paper handling: a 250-sheet cabinet, automated duplex (double-sided) printing, and a letter-size flatbed coupled with a 30-page automatic document feeder (ADF) for scanning. However, the ADF cannot scan two-sided originals and put the web pages in the right purchase.

Besides not having an EcoTank logo design and coming just in white (the ET-4850 is available in white or black), the ST-C4100 is a double to the customer AIO. It is the same desk-friendly dimension (10 by 16.4 by 19.8 inches with paper trays extended) and has the same link choices of USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct.
Inning accordance with Epson, there are just three other distinctions between both printers: their marketing, their guarantees, and how much ink each comes with. The EcoTank is sold through customer networks and the WorkForce through business networks. In practice, however, you can find both online—with, at this writing, some reliable suppliers discounting the WorkForce model by as long as $100.
The standard guarantees are also comparable. However, the options for extended contracts aren’t. Both come with a two-year warranty. However, Epson says you must sign up for the ET-4850 to obtain the second year.
The just choice for a comprehensive solution for the EcoTank is a one-year solution plan. Still, the WorkForce ST-C4100 offers programs that let you prolong the warranty for up to 5 years, as well as the opportunity to include a next-business-day substitute. If you buy the ET-4850 from a dealership, you can probably obtain much longer extended coverage, but not usually a next-day substitute.
The 3rd distinction is a bit uncertain: Both printers’ internet web pages say that you stand up to 2 years of ink in the package (with a footnote saying that that that computation is based upon 200 web pages published monthly).
However, the internet web pages also specify that the ST-C4100 comes with two sets of ink containers while the ET-4850 has just one location—a WorkForce bonus worth almost $60 that should let it print two times as many web pages before you need to buy more ink.
At this writing, Epson hasn’t formally verified this online fine print, but the tester can prove that the ST-C4100 sent out for review had two sets of ink containers in the package to the ET-4850’s one.
