Canon P215ii Review
Suppose you need a mobile scanner with your laptop computer and want it qualified enough to function as your desktop computer scanner. In that case, the Canon imageFormula P-215II Scan-tini Individual Document Scanner is an excellent prospect.
It is a little bit larger compared to most mobile models, but it provides essential additionals, consisting of an automated document feeder (ADF) and a duplexer (for two-sided scanning). Include the P-215II’s fast scan speed, and it is a shoo-in as our Editors’ Choice mobile document scanner.
The P-215II is smaller, lighter, and cheaper than the Kodak ScanMate i940, another top pick as a durable mobile document scanner.
It is also cheaper yet much faster than the now-discontinued Canon imageFormula P-215 Scan-tini Individual Document Scanner.
Along with offering a benefit in dimension and weight compared to the Kodak model, the P-215II suits the Kodak i940’s 20-sheet ADF capacity, ability to duplex, and ability to scan thick plastic cards, such as embossed ID cards and driver’s licenses.
The Kodak scanner was much faster in our tests, but the small speed benefit isn’t enough to offset the greater weight and larger dimension.

Canon P215ii Fundamentals and Configuration
The P-215II evaluates two extra pounds 3 ounces and measures 1.6 by 11.2 by 3.7 inches (HWD) with the trays shut. That makes it just about fifty percent the elevation of the Kodak i940 and about 11 ounces lighter.
However, it is larger and heavier compared to most mobile scanners. For instance, the Canon imageFormula P-208 Scan-tini Individual Document Scanner is almost a full extra pound lighter than the P-215II.
Equipment configuration can be as simple as connecting the provided USB cable television between the scanner and a computer system, but there are various other choices. The scanner obtains power over the USB cable television it uses to send checks to the computer system.
Suppose your PC is limited to USB 2.0 ports. In that case, you can obtain additional power for a much faster scan speed by using either an optional AC adapter or a 2nd, packed Y-cable related to the scanner’s power connector on one finish and a 2nd computer system USB port on the various other.
In my tests, using 2 USB 2.0 cable televisions instead of one increased the speed by a bit greater than one web page each min (ppm), giving me 13.1ppm on one fast test with solitary cable television, for instance, and 14.2ppm with 2.
By Canon, the scanner will also run at its full throttle if you connect a solitary cable television to a USB 3.0 port.
If you also put a cost on much faster speed, think about the Kodak i940. Additionally, if you want a lighter, more mobile scanner than the Canon imageFormula P-215II Scan-tini Individual Document Scanner but still need benefits such as an ADF and duplexing, have a look at the Canon P-208.
For most purposes, however, the P-215II provides enough of an increase in mobility to offset being slightly slower compared to the Kodak i940, and it provides enough extra capability to offset being slightly much less mobile compared to the Canon P-208. That balance of mobility and capability is sufficient to earn it our Editor’s Choice.
