Samsung SCX-4623F Scanner Driver – The tester was recently impressed by the Samsung SCX-4600 all-in-one, which combined one of the most commonly needed business functions in an affordable device with excellent efficiency. The Samsung SCX-4623F, evaluated here, is the next model up the range, and the company has included an Automated Document Feeder (ADF) and fax functionality to the blend.

Samsung SCX-4623F Scanner Driver – This fantastic, all-black unit has plenty of melodic contours and wide sides, and the scanner’s cover has a cool, 40-sheet ADF integrated into it it it. The feed tray joints up to improve access to documents through the feeder, and the scanner cover raises to accommodate publications as well as solitary sheets.

The full-width control board is well equipped, provided the machine’s price, and consists of a backlit, 2-line by 16-character LCD with a control ring bordered by another blue LED. There is a number pad for fax dialling; however, there are no fast-dial presets.

Two switches to the left of the display offer Samsung useful extra functions. The back one starts with the ID card copy feature, where you can scan both sides of a card and have the machine recreate them with each other on a solitary sheet of paper. The front switch handles screen print, where the machine can print a highlighted area or the complete screen of your PC or Mac with a pair of button-presses.

It is slightly unusual that neither of these two switches has a tale, not a stick-on tag, so you have to remember what they do. There is no front-panel USB outlet, which is a pity, but there’s a switch under the control board which enables the entire scanner area to join up to obtain a hand in, situations of paper jams.

The main printer area of the machine has a 250-sheet paper tray, with a single-sheet, multi-purpose feed simply over. The machine is deep enough that output web pages come to rest with a practical 25mm projecting from the front of the machine, so they’re easy to extract.

Samsung SCX-4623F Scanner Driver – Sockets at the back consist of USB, fax and optional handset sockets, but there is no network link as, such as the simpler SCX-4600, networking isn’t sustained.

Fold down the SCX-4623F’s front panel,,, and you can access the single-piece drum and printer toner cartridge, which moves in quickly. Simple applications are offered scanning as well as print,,, and the print drivers particularly have had a renovation and are clean and well-organised.

Samsung prices the all-in-one at 22ppm, but our 5-page test print took 23 secs to complete, a rate of 13.0ppm. The 20-page document bumped this up to 15.6ppm, not that away specification and an extremely sensible efficiency for a £135 device. A single-page copy took 12 secs,,, and a 5-page copy from the ADF finished in a stylish 25s. Finally, a 15 x 10cm picture on A4 took 14 secs so that you can obtain 4 in a min.

Greyscale videos are also smooth, with much less patchiness compared to many low-end lasers shown. However, there aren’t quite as many tones as there should be, so various colours in an initial can come out as comparable greys. Picture print is sensible; however,, as with so many mono lasers, darker tones tend to black unless you lighten the picture through gamma adjustment.

It appears the matrix of the scanner head clashes keeping that of the print head, a little bit such as moiré patterns you see when scanning a photo from a publication.

The machine uses a single-piece drum and printer toner cartridge, which is available in 1,000 and 2,500-page capabilities. Using the greater yield, consumable returns an expense for each web page of 2.80p, consisting of 0.7p for paper.

Samsung SCX-4623F Scanner Driver – This is not bad for a device in this price range and shows that Samsung does not have to earn to much on the consumables to ensure its pricing readily makes good sense. Since the SCX-4623F is targeted at the SOHO market, a 2,500-page capacity means you will not be changing cartridges monthly.
