In our tests, the five-page black text document took 53s to run, which is a rate of 5.7ppm, much faster than the ranked speed. On the much longer, 20-page test, the speed increased to 6.5ppm.

In prepare setting, however, the speed was 7.7ppm, much less than fifty percent of the declared rate, and in a typical environment, printing black text and color video, it was 2.4ppm, simply 60 percent of the score. Finally, a 15 x 10cm picture on shiny paper took 1min 35secs in the highest print quality.

The print quality provided this is a £30 printer, is pretty sensible. Black text is slightly spoiled by a bit of ink along the paper fibers, which gives it a somewhat fuzzy look. However, the primary use is pretty understandable. Remarkably, prepare setting text is, if anything, slightly cleaner, and we’d be quite happy printing black text in prepare constantly.

Color videos are slightly dithered but quite functional for daily paperwork in your home. The colors are pale compared to more expensive printers but still appropriate. Picture prints are also fantastic; however, they revealed scuff notes from the feed rollers in our test examples.

Sound degrees from the Deskjet 1000 are slightly more significant than average; however, as is usual with inkjet printers, it is mainly from peaks when new sheets are being fed.
