Samsung SCX-4623F Driver – This fantastic, all-black unit has plenty of melodic contours and wide sides, and the cover of the scanner has a cool, 40-sheet ADF integrated into it. The feed tray joints up to improve access to documents through the feeder, and the scanner cover raises to accommodate publications and solitary sheets.

The full-width control board is well equipped, provided the machine’s price, and consists of a backlit, 2-line by 16-character LCD with a control ring bordered by another blue led. There is a number pad for fax dialing; however, there are no fast-dial presets.

Samsung prices the all-in-one at 22ppm, but our 5-page test print took 23 secs to complete, a rate of 13.0ppm. The 20-page document bumped this up to 15.6ppm, without specification and an extremely sensible efficiency for a £135 device. A single-page copy took 12 secs, and a 5-page copy from the ADF finished in a stylish 25s. Finally, a 15 x 10cm picture on A4 took 14 secs so that you can obtain 4 in a min.

Print quality is typically well up to scratch, too. Text from the improved 1,200dpi resolution print engine is clean and sharp, with no indications of spatter and smoothly-formed personalities to small point dimensions.

Greyscale videos are also smooth, with much less patchiness compared to many low-end lasers shown. However, there aren’t as many tones as there should be, so various colors in an initial can come out as comparable greys. Picture print is sensible; however, darker tones tend to black with so many mono lasers unless you lighten the picture through gamma adjustment.

Photocopies of greyscale originals also experience over-dark and blotchy recreation, but this is never restricted to Samsung lasers. It appears the matrix of the scanner head clashes keeping that of the print head, a little bit such as moiré patterns you see when scanning a photo from a publication.

The machine uses a single-piece drum and printer toner cartridge, which is available in 1,000 and 2,500-page capabilities. Using the greater yield, consumable return an expense for each web page of 2.80p, consisting of 0.7p for paper.
