Canon imageCLASS MF3240 Review
By most measures, the Canon imageClass MF3240 ($200 road) is an outstanding laser all-in-one, appropriate for an office or as an individual AIO in any dimension workplace. This isn’t to say that it does not have defects.
Particularly, it does not have an automated document feeder (ADF), and its video are a touch below average for monochrome lasers. But I’m suitably impressed by what it provides: a printer, scanner, PC fax capability, and a standalone photocopier and fax machine for very little greater than the cost of an individual printer. It also prints a great deal much faster than various other AIOs for anything close to the price.
Establishing the MF3240 is easy. It is a bit large, at 14.5 by 17.7 by 18.2 inches (HWD), but small enough to squeeze into a confined desktop computer. Evaluating 26.4 extra pounds, the printer is significant but light enough to move pretty easily.
Once you find an area for it, you install the printer toner cartridge, load paper, connect in the telephone cable television and power cable, and you are ready to start copying and faxing. For printing and scanning, you need to install the software and, after that, connect to the provided USB cable television.
Canon imageClass AIOs generally tend to be fast. The MF3240, built about a 21-page-per-minute (ppm) engine, is no exemption. It whipped through our business applications collection in simply 8 mins 36 secs.

The very least expensive AIO with a quicker time on our tests was the Editors’ Choice Canon imageClass MF5770, which costs two times a lot and is slightly faster at 8:17. The more expensive Samsung SCX-4521F was significantly slower, at 14:21.
The MF3240 also succeeded in text quality, with over half our test font styles easily understandable at 4 factors and just one highly stylized font style having to be as large as 8 factors. With this degree of quality, you can rely on it to handle any text you had to prefer to print.
That said, the printer exhibited video quality that was a bit below average for a monochrome laser. Both key problems on my tests were noticeable dithering, showing as mild patterns in some tones of grey and through graininess in others, and a propensity to shed slim lines.
The outcome had not been constantly pretty, but as lengthy, as you keep away from slim lines, the MF3240 should be fine for interior business use. As is typical for printers, the picture quality was appropriate for printing Internet web pages or customer e-newsletters, except for pictures that you had to want as keepsakes.
Tester ran right into one small problem when the tester wanted to terminate a print job. The front panel has a switch identified Quit, but this switch has no effect on printing; however,r it will quit fax or copy in progress.
Since there’s no power switch, the tester needed to remove the power connector to quit the printing. Tester, later on, discovered that there’s a way to terminate a print job through the front panel, but inexplicably, it is hidden deep within the menu system.
Despite less-than-ideal video quality and the small issue of the hidden Terminate regulation, the Canon imageClass MF3240 offers a great deal for cash. Sadly, the lack of an ADF—you can’t obtain one as an option—limits the unit’s effectiveness, but that is the just point that maintains it from making an Editors’ Choice.
Regardless of what dimension workplace you are operating in, the chances are that you need to fax, copy, or scan multipage documents at the very least sometimes. And needing to scan each web page separately is a time-wasting chore.
