Brother MFC-7460DN Driver – Colored in light and dark grey tones, the machine is a little more significant than the mono printer on which it is centered. A slight flare to its waste is the just allocation that needs production for the scanner and its 35-sheet Automated Document Feeder (ADF). A folding feed tray and paper kit help to complete the excellent lines of the machine when not being used.

The control board is logically set out with switches grouped right into functional units. At the left-hand finish are four quick-dial buttons, which double up to 8 using a change key. Next are specification selectors for fax, copy and print settings, and underneath the instead dim 2-line by 16-character LCD panel in the center of the key-board are three illuminated switches to switch in-between settings.

Moving further right is a ruby of menu navigating keys and a number pad for fax number entrance, with begin and quit switches at the extreme right. It is disappointing there is no front-panel USB outlet for printing from or scanning to USB owns.

There’s, however, a 250-sheet paper tray near the bottom of the machine with a flip-down single-sheet feed for printing unique media straight over. At the back are sockets for USB and 10/100 Ethernet. However, there is no wireless arrangement on this machine.

Brother has a great software bundle with this printer, consisting of Nuance PaperPort and its MFL-Pro Collection. Consumables make up a two-part drum and printer toner cartridge, where the printer toner is available in 1,200 and 2,600 web page yields, while the drum should last for 12,000 web pages. This unit moves in from the front once you’ve folded up down the top component of the front panel to provide access.

Brother MFC-7460DN Driver – Although Brother claims a 2ppm speed increase for the MFC-7460DN, over the MFC-7360N, we found more of a distinction under test. Our simple, 5-page text document finished in 19s, giving a rate of 15.8ppm, but this was also real for the prepare setting test and the 5-page text and video test.

This mores than 2ppm much faster, but on the much longer, 20-page test, we saw 22.2ppm from this printer, nearly 3ppm quicker. Printing duplex – the highlight which differentiates this from the less expensive machine – slows it down a little bit, but also after that, it finished the same 20-side document at 10.5 sides each min.

10s for a duplicate from the flatbed and 23s for a five-page copy from the ADF show this is a highly nippy device, and a 15 x 10cm picture on A4 came through in 10s, too, so no dangling about.

The printer has both rest and deep rest settings, and it takes 10s of secs to get up from deep rest, so you need to include this in the first-page-out time for periodic printing. Sound degrees are sensible; however, there are still peaks of 63dBA when feeding paper.

The quality of prints from this machine is excellent, with sharp, well-formed text from its 600dpi engine. Greyscale video ready, too, with enough tones of grey to compare various colors in originals. There is very small blotchiness and slight banding in the skies of our test picture, but not bad for a mono laser. The just place it is pulled down is when copying greyscale images; many grey tones transform black, and those that do not are very blotchy.

Best situation consumable costs for both printer toner and drum has increased slightly since we evaluated the MFC-7360N. Still, we determine an ISO web page should just cost about 3.4p, which is very much on the same level as the competitors.
