HP ENVY 7640 Driver – HP’s Envy all-in-ones began life as small-format lifestyle printers designed for living-room. They’ve since turned into more conventional home or home-office devices, and the Envy 7640 is a larger, more technically sophisticated multi-function printer compared to those very early devices.

HP ENVY 7640 Review
HP ENVY 7640 – Design and Features
HP ENVY 7640 Driver – The Envy 7640 is a low-profile but large-footprint, all-black machine. It features a 25-sheet automated document feeder (ADF) on top and a large, sloped polymer control board operating the complete size of the device. The ADF is very discreet, and the control board has no physical switches, depending on a large 88mm touchscreen and a single-touch switch to control all functions.
The touchscreen is light and receptive and supports swipes and faucets – all that is had to control the device. It also displays useful condition information and instructions – and, in partnership with the HP Connected website, enables straight-from-the-printer offerings such as Printables that include pre-designed forms, quizzes and challenges.
There are 2 trays as standard, one for paper up to A4 in dimension and the other for picture spaces at 15 x 10cm or 13 x 18cm. Each time you replenish either tray, you need to verify the paper kind and dimension, which is a bit annoying.
HP Envy 7640 – Links and Software
HP ENVY 7640 Driver – A flip-open panel on the left-hand finish reveals USB and SD card ports for connecting video cam cards and non-wireless devices.
The main links are via USB 2, 10/100 Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The cordless link is one of the most flexible since it directly links phones and tablet computers. The double ink cartridges – black and tri-colour – clip in easily under the flatbed deck and are available in 2 capabilities. You need to publish and check a positioning web page following every cartridge change.

A relatively standard software bundle is provided with the Envy 7640, but it consists of OCR software. You can also publish to the machine from another location via ePrint.
HP ENVY 7640 – Publish Rates
HP prices the Envy 7640 at ISO rates of 14ppm publishing black and 9ppm in colour. Our five-page black text test gave 7.9ppm, rising to 11.3ppm for the 20-page document. This isn’t too away from the declared speed. However, the five-page colour document came through at just 4.5ppm, which is fifty per cent of the ranked throughput. Objectively, these aren’t bad rates for an inkjet printer at this price, also if they do not quite suit HP’s claims.
The 20-side duplex publish gave a rate of 5.7ppm, a single-page colour copy took 32 secs, and a five-page black copy from the ADF finished in 1min 11secs, all of which are reputable rates. 15 x 10cm pictures took about 50 secs regardless of which device we sent out the publish job from.
HP ENVY 7640 – Publish Quality and Costs
HP ENVY 7640 Driver – Publish quality is respectable throughout the board, with black text appearing at the near-laser quality and prepare setting being more appropriate than its rivals. Colour videos have smooth colour fills, with no indications of banding or dither patterns. Pictures are also clean and smooth, although there’s some loss of information in darker, shadowed locations in landscapes.
There are 2 ways of operating the HP Envy 7640. You can go either purchase substitute cartridges on your own once they run out, or you can sign up for HP’s Instant Ink solution. With the last, the printer interacts with HP and orders substitute cartridges that show up in the post before those in your printer have run out.
If you publish comparable amounts each month after that going down the membership path can conserve your money. You pay by the web page for 50, 100 or 300 web pages monthly, whether a web page is a solitary populate on the web page or a total A4 picture. If you publish many pictures, the HP Envy 7640 defeats various other devices on cost.
Buying cartridges as needed, we determine an expense for each web page of 4p for black and 8.8p for colour, consisting of 0.7p for paper. With Instant Ink, these costs change to 4.04p for black or colour, presuming one of the most financial £7.99p, 300-page monthly membership.
