HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw Driver – The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw (buy at amazon) is among the tiniest and least-expensive entry-level colours laser all-in-one (AIO) printers we’ve recently seen. It is a bit slower than our present Editors’ Choice, the somewhat more expensive Canon Color imageClass MF634Cdw, and prints as well. Still, the lack of an automated document feeder (ADF) for sending out multipage documents to the scanner, as well as a high per-page cost of consumables, should give pause to high-volume workplaces.

HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw Review
However, its small impact, solid publish speed, and excellent output quality makes it more significant than appropriate as an individual colour laser AIO for producing low-volume prints and duplicates in a home-based business, mini workplace, or workgroup.
Lean and Cool
Under-$300 colour laser AIOs are not plentiful, and manufacturers usually need to cut some edges to obtain this price point. The first points to go often are the previously mentioned ADF, which genuinely isn’t a requirement in atmospheres that do not check and copy multipage documents. Also missing out on this tiny desktop computer colour laser AIO is the ability to publish two-sided web pages immediately.
In various other words, you must by hand transform your web pages over to publish the different another side, but such as most printers that do not support auto-duplexing, the M180nw’s software driver stroll you through, informing you when and explaining how to turn the web pages by hand.
It is genuinely not that challenging and incredibly annoying, particularly if you do not need to do it very often. Suppose, on the various other hands, ADFs and automated two-sided publishing are essential to you. In that case, HP’s own LaserJet Profesional MFP M277dw, another PCMag top pick, comes with a 50-sheet ADF and prints two-sided web pages without assistance, as does the Canon MF634Cdw, and they both check multipage two-sided documents immediately.
The HP M180nw outshines these rivals. However, it remains petite and lightweight, which is relatively uncommon for a full-on colour laser AIO printer. It measures 11.5 by 16.5 by 15 inches (HWD) and evaluates simply 34.6 extra pounds.
That is several inches in all instructions and 14.2 extra pounds lighter compared to the Canon MF634Cdw. In contrast, the more expensive and more durable HP M277dw is slightly more prominent but 6.2 extra pounds heavier than its less-expensive M180nw brother or sister. As a result, of these three colour laser AIOs, the M180nw is one of the most likely in shape on a small or average-size desktop computer.
The equally small control board, composed of a two-line monochrome text LCD, a handful of tiny switches, and a 10-key number pad, resides to the left of its 100-sheet output tray. The printer comes with one 150-sheet input tray, and its maximum monthly duty cycle is 30,000 web pages (up to 1,500 recommended), which is significant for a shade laser AIO in this price range.
Other Driver: HP DeskJet 3700 Driver
Both the Canon MF634Cdw and the HP M277dw also come with 150-sheet paper input trays and 30,000-page monthly duty cycles, and 1-sheet multi-purpose trays for overriding the main cabinet, which, incidentally, the HP M180nw doesn’t have.
Connecting and Protecting
Provided its price, the M180nw’s connection options are reputable. Along with dual-band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and connecting to a solitary PC via USB, you obtain Cordless Direct (HP’s Wi-Fi Direct equivalent), which is a peer-to-peer network procedure that allows you to connect your mobile devices to the printer without either them or it being connected to a LAN or an intermediary router.
Other mobile features include Mopria, HP ePrint (for publishing from your Android telephone or tablet), Apple AirPrint, and HP’s Wise application. The Wise application also allows you to print from your mobile devices without connecting your printer to a network.
The M180nw’s security features aren’t as comprehensive as you had found on not just higher-end HP AIOs, but also several various other higher-volume models. However, as with most various other printers, you obtain a protected (SSL, HTTPS) embedded internet web server that allows you to monitor or set up the machine from both your local network and the internet, as well as the ability to enable or disable specific ports and features.
Sadly, the ability to secure publish jobs with PINs or control access to each user or division via username and password are not available; you will need to step up to another model, such as Canon’s MF634Cdw, for those features.
