Canon PIXMA TS5120 Driver – As among the lower-end models in Canon’s most recent launch of 5 three-function (print/copy/check) all-in-one printers, the Canon Pixma TS5120 Cordless All-in-One Inkjet Printer provides a basic set of features at a deal price. It has excellent paper capacity for a budget plan inkjet and good speed. Its text quality is fantastic, but its pictures are not suited for the higher-end models in its line, such as the Canon Pixma TS9120.

Canon PIXMA TS5120 Review

Built for the Home

The TS5120 is a small and light all-in-one printer, measuring 5.8 by 16.8 by 12.5 inches (HWD) and evaluating 14.3 extra pounds. It has a simple, attractive design with spherical edges. Our test unit is matte black; a white variation of the printer is also available. The front panel, which can be slanted for easy access, consists of a 2.5-inch non-touch color LCD, flanked by control switches and a four-way rocker switch with a central “OK” button.

Paper capacity is 200 sheets between a 100-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet back feeder (which can also be in shape up to 20 sheets of letter-size picture paper). This is very great for a budget plan inkjet all-in-one. It has an auto-duplexer for two-sided publishing. On top is a letter-sized flatbed scanner, which does not have an automated document feeder (ADF).

As the second-lowest-priced model in Canon’s TS Collection, the TS5120 has simply two ink tanks—one black, the various other combining the cyan, magenta, and yellow shades. The variety of ink tanks differ through the collection: The entry-level TS3120 also has two tanks, the midlevel TS6120 has 5, and the premium TS8120 and TS9120 each have 6. Consequently, the higher-end models are more photo-centric and produce better-quality prints, although the whole line does well at text publishing (more on that particular in a min).

Reputable Speed

Budget inkjet all-in-ones are unknown for their document-printing speed; although the TS5120 is no exemption, it heaps up nicely versus the various other Canon printers in its collection. In publishing the text-only (Word) part of our business applications collection, the TS8120 balanced 12.5 web pages each min (ppm), and at 4.3ppm in publishing our complete business collection, including PDF, PowerPoint, and Stand out files along with the previously mentioned Word document.

These ratings are not significantly slower compared to the Canon TS9120, which costs two times as much; we timed that Editors’ Choice model at 13.2 and 4.7ppm on the Word document and complete collection, specifically.

The TS5120 proved much faster than the entry-level Canon TS3120, which we clocked at 4.8ppm on the Word document and 2.1ppm for the whole collection. It was also reasonably fast at picture publishing, balancing 29 secs each 4-by-6 publish.

Typical Inkjet Output

Overall output quality for the TS5120, based upon our testing, was slightly over the same level for an inkjet on the stamina of its excellent text. In contrast, video quality was average and picture quality a touch below average. Text quality should suffice for any business use, also at small dimensions, at the very least with standard font styles.

In outputting the video component of our collection, shades were typically well-saturated. The TS5120 did reasonably well with slim colored lines and in distinguishing between comparable tones. Several histories looked slightly discolored, many revealed mild banding (a recurring pattern of striations), and there was some dithering through populate patterns in several illustrations. Video is fine for home and typical institution use.

Picture prints tended to be on the light side, with a slight loss of information in some sunny locations. The prints looked OK. However, the shades didn’t stand out or show the comparison the way they do with six-ink Canon printers such as the TS8120 and the TS9120.

There was a little color on a monochrome publish. Picture quality is acceptable for pictures predestined for a bulletin board system or fridge door, but this model isn’t an excellent choice for fledgling professional digital photographers.
